In 2009 I
graduated from the University of the West of England in Bristol with
a first class degree in Illustration. Whilst there I was inspired to
pursue a career in writing and illustrating picture books. I was
highly commended in the Macmillan Children's Book Prize, and also
received a Best New Blood Award from D&AD.
I
continue to develop my own creative practice, which typically
involves drawing and painting with regards to character design and
exploring narratives. I'm also partial to experimenting with textile
based media, including sewing, knitting and embroidery. I have a
great interest in using handmade and low-tech techniques within my
work, which gives my practice a tactile and traditional edge.
